King Kares
was brought forth December 14 , 2015 with the hopes of making a difference. I am Desmond King II a native of Detroit, Michigan. I grew up in the inner city and as a youth I had some challenges. My mother,Yvette Powell, had a vision for me to be a blessing to other children like me. She made sure I kept good grades and got me involved with youth sports and community mentors. Most importantly I was taught Faith and work anything could be achieved. I graduated from Iowa University and became a NFL player. To be able to share my experiences as an inner city youth and speak the importance of getting good grades, to focus on their future has been a blessing. King Kares Inc has been able to reach over 1200 children in its short time existence through mentoring, football camps, back packs for school, sports equipment and Christmas presents for children. As we grow with the community so will future programs. One day King Kares would like to offer scholarships and mentoring programs so stay tuned.
